You might have heard the name of distilled water but you won’t be familiar with its detail and how it is made. In AD 200 this process was explained by Alexander of Aphrodisias by the experiment on seawater. In this article, you’ll know the Distillation process, what is water distiller, how to make it, and also how it works. Distilled water has many uses as it is used in home appliances too. You don’t need to be panic if you don’t know about this process, working or if you have to distill water at home. This article will help you if you are in this confusion. Let’s take a look.
1. What is a water distiller
Natural Distillation is a process that cleans water from every contaminant. Just like Sun evaporates the water on Earth that is in the lakes, rivers, and oceans by its heat. The water vapors rise and cool then go into clouds. The cooled water vapors condense and return to the earth in the form of rain, snow, and hail. In this case, the water of the Earth gets distilled. It lefts behind all the minerals and salt present in the oceans. Hydrogen and Oxygen go to form a gas state and raise up to the clouds in the form of gas. This hydrologic cycle process slightly acidic and pure water in the form of rain.
Water distillation is the same thing, It boils water turns into steam, the steam is then condensed and returns back to liquid. In this process anything that will not turn into steam like minerals, microbiological things are left behind. Basically, it is a process in which it steams water and then removes all kinds of viruses, arsenic, fluoride, and other contaminants.
Uses Of Distilled Water:
Distillers are very important because they produce very high-quality water. Uses of distilled water are so many, Few of them are listed below.
Uses
It is used in laboratories & Medicines.
Used in Cooking.
Using in baby formulas.
Where mineral free water is used Drinking as well.
The variety of water distillers are unlimited. Some are way too expensive and others are affordable, We can also make them at home but the process of every water distiller is the same. Although changes in the result can be accepted. The result is incredible but if you make a distiller at home and by causing a mistake the result can be disappointing but no need to get through any worries. If you don’t want to spend money on a distiller I have a solution for you. Go to the next point.
2. How To Make A Water Distiller
Water distillers are made by companies and then sold in the market. You can buy a distiller but if you don’t want to buy it from the market so it is possible to make it at home. When making it at home you will need some products that you have to buy from the market. The products are listed below.
Products To Make A Water Distiller At Home
A metal Kettle (High quality stainless steel).
A heat source (like electric burner, rocket stove).
PVC pipe connector and flexible pipe connector.
Glass Jug.
A plastic hose.
Brass pipe connectors.
A screwdriver.
Detergent and Water.
Some of these products will be available at home and the ones that are not at home will be bought by you from the market. Yes of course you will buy them.
Now if all products are in front of you make sure they are clean, if not so clean them with detergent. Bend the pipes into U shape because we want water to go upwards, this shape is easier to set up. After cleaning properly drill a hole in the metal kettle. Take the brass pipe, make a spiral according to it. Push the PVC connector into the flexible pipe connector now join both of them. When all this process is done add water to the kettle. Slide the pipe connector to the spout and kettle. You will now turn on the burner. Wait for a few minutes. And your water will be distilled.
3. How does a water distiller work
Water is distilled by the process of distillation. Distillation removes all the impurities (like biological living organisms, fluoride, and many more) in the water by boiling it. And separating it by tubes and cooling them down into the water again but after cooling the water It becomes Purified Water. The functions are so easy. This process starts when water is added into a boiling chamber of the distiller that is placed over a heating element. Then it starts boiling, the particles that turn into a gaseous state move upwards that are particles of pure water. These particles are called steam.
It then goes to the condensing tubes of the distiller that are placed on the top of it. The tubes have a fan in it. So when the steam passes the fans blow air that cools the steam into pure water. Now we have pure water and all the contaminants are removed from it.
Liquids that have boiling points lower than water are oily substances that can not be purified by this process. They may be oil, fuels, or either pesticide. So distillation process can not remove impurities from them. But charcoal filtration does so. If you have these substances I will suggest a charcoal filtration process.
Conclusion:
The process is cleared, Now you may go ahead and try to make a water distiller at home. And of course, save money. In this whole article, I guess I’ve explained every single piece of information related to the selective topics. The whole idea is taken by the hydrologic process that is natural. The scientists discovered this and applied it to water. Distilled water is used widely and is now considered a compulsory process that is used in labs, kitchens, factories, and Hospitals too. Although pure water is the need of us. Moreover, now Make your own pure water and drink it.
